Catching Up

Here are a few catch up photos from the last few months that I never got around to posting:

Checking things out at the Day Out with Thomas event.
Hangin' with Molly at the park. What a difference just a few months makes!

Calder really likes to share his toys with Tessa! If you look closely, you'll see that he put some of his trains on her bouncer tray. Very frequently we'll find his toys stacked up on her lap while she's in her swing, or placed right next to her while she's playing with her play arch! I wonder how long this will last??

"Reading Papers"

I had forgotten about this video that I took a few weeks ago. Calder and Sandhya were being really cute as they were "reading papers" together.

Talking

Tessa has found her voice, and she likes to use it! She talks the most late at night -- I think it's because the very loud little boy that lives in our house is not around to out-talk her! :)

Feathered Friends

We have lots of feathered friends this spring!! The first set, Polly and Molly, have made their home in this birdhouse in our backyard. The birdhouse was given to us a few months ago by an elderly neighbor. I was out taking the kids for a walk one day, when he stopped me and asked if Calder would like to have the birdhouse. He said it was a hobby of his, and that this was his 'new model'. Looks like the new model is a success! We caught Polly and Molly making their home in it not long after we hung it up.

Next up is this little guy. I had noticed what seemed like a lot of birds flying in and out of my (expensive) hanging flower pots in front of our house. And, one day as Calder and I were watering the flowers, two little birds came flying out! This one flew right into my chest and we startled each other pretty good (there might have been some screaming and flailing on my part...) He finally landed just like this, on our front porch facing the house. He must have been really startled, because he did not move from this position for almost 5 minutes. After watching him for a couple of minutes, Calder said, "Mommy, is he eating our house?" So, we decided to take a look in the second flower pot, and sure enough....
This photo was taken at the end of May. The eggs have since hatched, but I haven't taken any new photos because I don't want to get so close as to scare away the mother. We keep an eye on them by standing on the seat of our bay window and peeking down into where the flower pot is hanging. I've counted 3 beaks, so I know that at least 3 of them are alive and well, but it's hard to tell if there is a fourth one in there since they are all huddled so tightly together. Unfortunately, my flowers have died because I'm afraid to water them! Oh well, I don't mind sacrificing a few flowers for the lives of 4 little birdies...

Tessa at 5 Months

Our darling girl turned 5 months old on Saturday! She continues to be a sweet little thing who goes with the flow quite easily. She loves to suck on her fingers (especially her thumb!) She's grasping things now, and starting to 'play' with a few toys -- mostly her textured links, which she loves to shove in her mouth (when her fingers aren't in there.) She's drooling a lot these days, and we're pretty convinced that she is teething. Calder got his first 2 teeth at 5 1/2 months, so it could be right around the corner! She's usually very serious (as was Calder) but we have coaxed a few giggles out of her. She loves jumping in her jumper and she also enjoys watching Calder play.

Tomorrow is a big day for both Tessa and I. It's my first day back to work, and Tessa's first day in daycare. I definitely have mixed feelings about going back to work. I really thought it would be easier to do this the second time around, but it definitely isn't! I'm going to miss my baby girl so much!

Water Fun!

One of our local shopping centers has a water feature for kids during the summer, so we decided to check it out for the first time yesterday. Calder absolutely LOVED it, as evidenced by the videos below. We will definitely be going back!!

Milestones!

We hit two milestones at our house today. First? Tessa rolled over from belly to back! She's not a fan of tummy time (but starting to tolerate it a little more), so it's a pretty big deal that she stayed on her tummy (without screaming) long enough to roll over.

And Calder's milestone? He ate FOUR (!) different types of vegetables today! Cucumbers, peas, tomatoes and carrots! And he didn't complain about any of them. There's hope for this kid yet!

Check out Tessa's new trick. She is so stinkin' cute when she does this. She definitely knows that she is being funny!
