Trike Time!

Calder loves his tricycle! I picked it up at a yard sale last summer for $1 -- what a steal!! He doesn't know how to pedal yet, but he scoots himself along really well using his feet.

And now he has his own bike helmet -- which he LOVES! It's never a battle to get him to wear it. In fact, it's more of a battle to get him to take it off once we are back inside!

Music Class

Music Class from courtney on Vimeo.

Calder and Landon had a blast at a free music class that we attended at the library today! Lots of instruments, singing, dancing and fun! As you can see from the video, Calder enjoyed marching to the beat in circles around Daddy!

Friday Playdate

Calder had 7 friends over for a playdate yesterday! The kids had a great time in our newly finished basement/playroom. It even got a little rowdy with lots of dancing and climbing on tables!

Lettuce

Calder ate lettuce today. Yes, lettuce. The dark, leafy, green VEGETABLE. And he liked it. He even asked for more! Did I mention that he liked it? I never knew lettuce could make me so happy!

The Big Hunt

The Easter Bunny did a great job hiding eggs in the backyard for Calder!
He filled up his basket, and quickly needed a second!
So, Calder did the funniest thing today. All week, he has been playing with the plastic eggs -- pulling them apart and then bringing them to us to help put them back together. So, today during dinner, I gave him a hard boiled egg (which he refused to eat of course.) I had cut the egg in half before putting it on his tray. A few minutes later, I hear him say 'Help, help!' I looked over to find him holding the two pieces of the egg -- trying to put it back together! Too cute!!

Easter Morning

Calder checking out his Easter loot.
He was most excited about the bubbles!
Running around with his two matching baskets! Happy Easter everyone!

Dying Eggs

Calder had a blast dying Easter eggs. Notice how nice and clean his hands are in this picture?

Now check out the 'incredible hulk' green hands that he ended up with!

Easter Bunny? Nahhhh...

We attempted a visit to the Easter Bunny on Saturday, but it was a no go for both Calder and Sandhya. Calder actually started off by giving him a high-five...but wasn't crazy about getting any closer than that.
But they did have a blast playing in a nearby fountain!
Calder succeeded at getting very wet -- and Daddy too!

Strolling out of the mall with Aunt Vandana and Grandma -- it's time to eat!

Baths and Bedtime with Grandma

Grandma came to visit this weekend! Here, she poses with her two froggies...
...and then helped us get them off to bed!

19 months old!

Calder is 19 months old today! Here, he is racing down the steps for some playground fun before the rain came!
Later, I treated him to a little celebratory cupcake! He ate off all of the frosting, and with the whole cupcake still sitting there, said 'More?' I guess we know which part he likes best.

St. Patty's Day Parade

Our metro destination was downtown DC, where we met Kevin for an early lunch, and then hit the St. Patty's Day parade.

Calder hadn't seen Kevin in a while, but he quickly warmed up to him. Although, he did exhibit his first bits of shyness, when he was unwilling to share his animal noises with Kevin! He just giggled and hid his face.
Two pals taking a little stroll.

Calder especially enjoyed the horses. I had been talking about them all morning, and was a little worried when we were 30 minutes into the parade and hadn't seen a single horse! Then we finally saw them! After they were gone, Calder kept saying 'horse' and signing 'more'. We did see a few more before the parade was over, and we finally got a 'neigh' out of him too!

It was a little chilly when the sun wasn't shining, but we all had a great time!

First "Choo Choo" Ride

Calder took his first metro ride today! Before our train arrived, he walked back and forth down the platform, saying 'Choo Choo!'
Looking for our destination on the metro map.
Posing with Mommy.
We are almost there!!!

All Boy

After his "nap" (he never really went to sleep) and a clothing change, it was back outside for more fun. The second set of clothes didn't last long, as he immediately went running through the yard, tripped, fell in the mud, rolled around, got back up and started running again! Yep, he is allllll boy.

But, he still thought our spring flowers were pretty!

Yard Cleanup

We had an absolutely gorgeous day here on Saturday! And, since we still have a ridiculous amount of leaves in our yard, we decided to spend the day working outside.

Calder was such a good little helper! He loved to rake and help us bag the leaves. He just truly wanted to help us. His new word for the day? "Helper." :)

I Am A Donkey, And I Kick My Legs!

From Head To Toe from courtney on Vimeo.

Calder's interpretation of Eric Carle's "From Head To Toe".

(Please excuse the incredibly messy family room!)

Shoes

This kid sure does love shoes. He's spent countless hours traipsing around in either my or Dave's shoes. And he frequently carries his own shoes around in hopes that we'll help him put them on (which, of course, means it's time to go outside).
So, recently, he has started trying to put on his own shoes. No success in that department yet...

...but he can take his shirt off. Here's what I found when I went up to check on him during his nap today. That's his shirt, crumpled up next to him on the left!

New Hat Rack

Like our new hat rack? Pretty cute, huh?

Tea Party

Calder's day care class had a tea party this week, so he got all dressed up for the occasion!
He's all ready for school -- with his new backpack, and Daddy's hat!

Mommy's Little Helper

Mommy's little boy helping with the housework!

The Kitchen Is Complete!!!

It's finally complete, and we love it! Most of it has been done for a while now, but we finally completed the backsplash this past week.

Here are a few shots of Dave and I during our backsplash adventure. It wasn't easy...but it came out great and we're already thinking about what else we can tile in the house! I laid the tile and Dave did all of the cutting -- good teamwork!
Many thanks to Sean, Vandana and Sandhya who occupied Calder for the day so we could have the time to take on this task!

And, of course I had to include a few 'before' shots, so you can see the transformation!
